Using 12.1.6 RU6 MP4 Build 6867 (and all previous builds as well), when you create two or more Location-Specific policies for a group, if you change one location's communication settings (say, un-tick Download Randomization), it propagates across all location-specific policies within that group.
As a real-world example:
We have meeting room PCs, our default workstation setting is to allow download randomization of four hoursa cross the fleet to minimize boot-storm related flooding of the network download the latest definitions across a thousand PCs at 8am. BUT, for meeting rooms, we've found that as they are often only on for 30-45 minutes at a time and then off for hours, they would often choose a download time that would end up being in an 'off' period and therefore their definitions would be days or sometimes in extreme cases, weeks, out of date.
So, I thought I'd do a registry-key based Location and set up a GPO to insert a specific reg key for the meeting room PCs (they are in their own OU) and have SEP pick up this and choose a different policy. But when I changed the meeting room policy's Communication Settings, I found the same setting is changed across all Location policies within that group.
