We have SEP v12.x rolled out in a relatively large and extremely distributed enterprise environment with 400-500 subnets. Ideally, we would be able to report on unmanaged devices on the network, but the current process of creating an unmanaged detector (one by one) is extraordinarly cumbersome. The unmanaged detector feature is an excellent tool, but it's implementation in SEPM makes it unusable for us. With 5000+ client workstations and 600+ datacenter assets, our limited IT staff relies heavily on auotmation to accomplish our jobs.
My request has multiple components, primarily based on my experience with Altiris:
- Enable administrators to create multiple unmanaged detectors at once using the SEPM console.
- Example: right-click action on client group in console with option to set all machines to unmanaged detectors.
- Provide reporting for clients that are configured as unmanaged detectors
- Example: a report that lists all clients that have been configured as unmanaged detectors and the subnets that are assocated with them.
- Provide the ability to create alerts when an unmanaged detector is offline for a specified time period.
