Possibility to use wildcards or enviromental variables in Central Exclusions.

Hello!

Many applications recommends excluding certain folders or files from auto protect scans of antivirus programs.

For instance IBM's Domino client recommends excluding c:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Lotus\Notes\Data

http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21407945

Since the central exclusion policy and folder exclusion does not allows wildcards such as: c:\users\*\AppData\Local\Lotus\Notes\Data.

Or environmental variables such as: c:\users\%username%\Appdata\Local\Lotus\Notes\Data.

There is no way to exclude this folder other that to add an entry for every user in the company. And this is not a practical solution for most larger companies.

The company i consult has over 10.000 users and it's not possible to create 10.000 exclusions in the policy.

I suggest that Symantec incorporates the possibilty to use Wildcars (*) similar to how you use it in DOS. Or variables also currently used in DOS into Symantec endpoint protection client as soon as possible.

Please contact me if you have further questions or a workaround that i can use.

Best regards

Alexander
