Don't scan saved mail attachments

Hello

I've thought about the scanning of saved mail attachments.

We have Symantec Mail Security for Exchange on our Exchange server and Symantec Endpoint Protection on the PCs.

The attachment is scanned before the user is allowed access.

Why do SEP on the PC rescan the attachment before allowing it to be opened?

Because the two products don't agree on that the attachment is clean when exiting Exchange into the OS.

I do know that when the file exits Exchange, then as time goes by, then when new virusdefinitions arrive the former scanning of the file is now invalid and needs to be redone.

Could you please make SMSMSE and SEP speak the same language? (I think they use the same virusdefinitions)

Just like how its done with fileshares:
You have files on fileshares on servers, which run Symantec Endpoint Protection. Therefore the PC don't need to scan the file, because the servers has already done that.

Best regards,
Pierre
