Hi
Currently the LUA server and SEPM server cannot be monitored externally. Let see the LUA at first:
1. It is important to monitor the download and distribution tasks to see they failed, or running for a long time. We have issue where the taks just running and never stopped, but a monitoring can show the problem in time without checking the lua web site every day
2. check the status of the LUA, not just the tomcat service is running, but the website available and can be accessed
The best one is to add this thing to SCOM 2012. The cmd line/powershell possibilities also good, becuase anybody can create monitor for it in any monitoring tools by using cmd line commands.
On the SEPM side,
It should be good if we have some possibility to create monitoring for the SEPM in SCOM or use cmd line tools to monitor it. What has to be monitored? SEPM servers statuses, threshold to see how many online machines has not been updated or cannot receive the policies, see any system failure, see the various measured data in perf graphs (infections, managed SEP clients, version infos, license infos....).
I tried to create monitors in SCOM with using scripts, but there are no any possibility in LUA server or SEPM to check anything outside and provide a solution for the IT management. This makes the position of the Symantec instable in an IT system as i see.
