There are so many things wrong that I simply don't know where to begin.
I administer a system that uses Symantec Endpoint Protection Enterprise. As I understand it, this is your premier product. After a horrendous start where the product did almost incalculable damage to our systems, we found that it does a very good job at protection and it's only drawback is in poor design of the interface - it's badly written and poorly explained.
In my remote office I required a single-pc solution and in spite of my misgivings a colleague convinced me to buy your SEP Cloud edition. I installed it and initially and for 34 days it was fine.
And then suddenly your product started to attack my system.
There is no other word to describe it except attack.
It started finding problems in files that had been on the system system 2013. If found faults in archives that were made on other systems back in 2008 and simply stored on this system. In many cases it complained that the file size was too large to quarantine and left me the option to continue -- without being specific about what it intended to do with the file.
Finally the product attacked my email INBOX. Thunderbird and it's Unix-style mailbox have existed for some time. The Unix-style mailbox has existed longer that Norton or Symantec has even been in business. It should not be too much to ask for to expect that you would have the software to understand the structure and remove from it the data that is in question. You can get this software on the internet FOR FREE. But Symantec does not offer it. Instead the software repeatedly offered to DELETE MY ENTIRE IN BOX with NO OPTION to preserve it.
So this is when I knew that real-time scans needed to be turned off, so I went to START and PROGRAMS and I clicked on SYMANTEC CLOUD where I was able to see the status of my software, but even the SETTINGS icon (the little gear wheel) did not lead me to a screen where I could turn the scan off - or modify any of the behaviors. This left me no option but to uninstall the SEP from my system completely.
All this while waiting 40 minutes on hold while someone at Symantec found me the correct department for support! It seems that even though the product says "Symantec Endpoint Protection" the cloud version is not handled by the SEP team.
Later, I found that to stop the scans and modify the behavior I had to log on to my symantec cloud control panel. IN WHAT UNIVERSE is a link to that login not an integral part of the symantec.cloud program ON my system??? What brain-dead, moron, jerk, dumbass, screwup of a programmer didn't make that the single and most fundamental part of the GUI that is on my system?
"Log On HERE to manage your Endpoint Protection"
What idiot, unqualified unskilled useless amateur bungling bush-league incapable and inept manager LET a program out of the development environment without the most basic and commonly used links?
And finally ... why is it that Symantec Corporate couldn't care one tiny bit if I live or die once my check clears their bank?
